Knit
As a woman and feminist, knit has been really important to me because in the past it was seen as a “domestic” art for women. Textiles like knit were crucial in second wave feminism’s abolishment of the more traditional male-centric art institutions, and are still used to this day as a form of activism.
I continue to hold these morals alongside my craft where knit has been one of my favourite textile mediums. I love communicating new ideas through an old method and I appreciate how constructive and dimensional it is, as this is something I didn’t think knit could be.
